YAHOO -- Around the Whale and in the Hub of the Abacos

YAHOO!!! Made it around the Whale Cay Passage today. We are currently anchored in Fisher's Bay on Great Guana Cay -- looking forward to the Sunday Pig Roast at Nippers tomorrow.

Manjack Cay was great. So peaceful and beautiful and quiet and DARK. Star gazing was great last night.

We left around 9am this morning and headed out and then around the Whale Cay. The report was 4 - 6 foot rollers but it was not that bad Nothing worse than a rollicking trip to Cape Lookout Bight.

Baker's Bay was a disappointment. It is now the playground of the rich and selfish and piggish. Two mega yachts anchored right in the channel depicted in Steve Dodges Cruising Guide to the Abacos - we sailed between them. They had all their boat toys out -- runabouts, wave runners, skidoos, etc and just being a nuisance. Once passed there we went on into Fisher's bay and dropped the hook. Not too crowded. As usual the hook did not stick at first. I had about 60 feet of chain out and it dragged
slowly. I dumped another 40 feet of chain and then it grabbed aggressively. We backed down and it stuck. I pulled in some chain leaving 80 feet just to be careful.

It is nice here but a bit rolly with several power boats running from the settlement to Bakers Bay and back. Ohh well - not too bad and I think we will still enjoy it.

Yes we will - just invited to Happy Hour on Rachel so got to get ready.

Unfortunately we cannot connect to the internet so no pics or Skype tonight.

Thanks for airing your thoughts on Baker's Bay Club. It is a true shame and will permanently harm the Bahamian ecosystem. Learn more at notesfromtheroad.com/guana.htm or saveguanacayreef.com

Hello. My wife and I bought our house about 6 months ago. It was a foreclosure and we were able to get a great deal on it. We also took advantage of the 8K tax credit so that definitely helped. We did an extensive remodeling job and now I want to refinance to cut the term to a 20 or 15 year loan. Does anyone know any good sites for mortgage information? Thanks!
